The Ivory Tower

Year 2130, a farmer who lives far from the big megalopolises and pollution is surprised by a meteorite that crashes down onto his land. As he heads over to investigate, he discovers a strange object with a very unique glow. After analysing it in his workshop, he realised that the mysterious stone is full of small beings moving around inside and charged with enormous energy.

Designing a world and the characters who live in it.

Petalia is a being who inhabits the forest and leads a small community formed by individuals who, at some point in their lives, experienced mutations and share a certain vulnerability. In Petalia’s case, the mutation altered the molecular structure of parts of the body, giving them plant-like characteristics. As a result of this transformation, their way of obtaining energy changed: they now feed through photosynthesis and water. In addition, they developed the ability to make any plant germinate anywhere and to accelerate its growth at a remarkable speed. They can, for example, create crops to feed their community or generate resistant vegetal bark to protect it from enemies. As a limitation, Petalia depends on sunlight and water to gather the energy required to carry out these actions. The character was conceived at a narrative level in the course Storytelling and later developed in Design and Modelling.
