“Emptiness means a total absence of forms, impossible to exist.”

The meaning of “vacío” (emptiness), according to Western thought, refers to the absence of emotions within a person, linked to introspection and commonly associated with depression and anxiety. However, within the Buddhist context, it represents the search for the “self”—the act of emptying ourselves to reach our purest, most emotional essence. It is about learning who we are, recognizing our needs as human beings, and accepting ourselves and our surroundings, letting go of the mind to make room for the soul. But what if we apply this concept to spaces and objects? From this perspective, we can conclude that there is a crisis—a crisis in how we organize, divide, or combine spaces, and how we give them a narrative, if they even have one. Since COVID, greater priority has been given to homes, approaching them as spaces that truly meet our needs, covering functionality and creating harmonious environments. Yet, many services—both public and private—still fail to follow this approach.
