Project description

The project develops a range composed of four cocktails — Old Fashioned, Tequila, Margarita and Martini — conceived as a coherent collection in which each reference maintains its individuality within a shared system.

Each cocktail is presented as a curated piece, where form, material and graphic design come together to create a cohesive experience. The aesthetic draws on an editorial language: restrained, precise and almost silent, allowing the object to be perceived more as a cultural artefact than as simple packaging. The project develops a range composed of four cocktails.

The working process includes the project presentation, market research, logo design and the definition of the initial graphic directions, the development of the label design (front and back), the range adaptation, and the final project presentation.

Project challenge

The challenge of the project is to design a sustainable packaging solution for takeaway cocktails that seamlessly addresses the needs of transportation, preservation and serving, without compromising a refined experience or a coherent formal language.

This involves balancing technical requirements — such as food safety, liquid containment and ease of pouring — with environmental criteria, through the use of responsible materials such as FSC-certified cardboard and a sealed compostable pouch.

At the same time, the project seeks to move beyond the ephemeral nature of packaging by incorporating a second functional life, transforming it into a reusable object. The challenge, therefore, is not only technical, but also conceptual: to turn packaging into a system that brings together use, sustainability and value beyond immediate consumption.

Student inspiration

Each piece is structured through a shared visual language, which organises the range and allows it to be recognised as a whole, while introducing variations that respond to the specific character of each cocktail. In this way, the collection is not built as a sum of isolated products, but as a series in which each element occupies a precise place within a shared structure.

The system incorporates an opening with a side spout that allows the cocktail to be poured directly from the container. After use, the box is conceived as a reusable object — pencil holder, vase or organiser — extending its useful life beyond consumption.

The development of the label is based on a clear decision: to prioritise purity of space, legibility and the perception of the packaging as a collectible piece, avoiding visual saturation.

Based on this principle, the front is designed as a “cover”, reduced to the essentials: the name of the cocktail and its representative glass, where basic data such as alcohol content and volume are integrated. This synthesis creates a clean and recognisable image, aligned with the character of the range.

Mandatory information — volume, ABV, batch, producer, recycling instructions and codes — is moved to the back, where it is organised in a balanced way so as not to interfere with the primary reading. In this way, the logic of the object is maintained over that of the commercial product.

The system is completed with the incorporation of minimalist sustainability icons, reinforcing the packaging approach as a reusable, separable and responsible object.

Tools used

For the development of the project, the Adobe Creative Cloud suite was primarily used, employing different programs depending on the phase of the process:

  • Adobe Photoshop

Editing, manipulation and composition of the photographs.

  • Adobe Illustrator

Creation of graphic elements, typography and vector assets.
